As we enter our 29th season as a professional rodeo, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our current advertisers and to welcome aboard any new advertisers for 2018. As a not for profit, 501c4 organization, the Lincoln County Rodeo Association, Inc., producers of the Wisconsin River Pro Rodeo, we are sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), and the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA). In 2009 and 2011, 2016 we were voted the #1 Medium Sized Rodeo in the PRCA Great Lakes Circuit. In 2011 we were voted the Best Small Rodeo Committee in North America and again in 2017out of 469 Rodeos by the WPRA. In 2013, we were named the Small Business of the Year by the Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce, and in 2014 we were awarded 3rd place in the Justin Boots Best Footing in the Great Lakes Circuit by the WPRA, and Justin Boots. Yes, we are proud of the accomplishments and the awards we have gained, but none of this would have been possible without the generous support of you our advertisers.
Our mission is: Provide quality family entertainment and promote the sport of professional rodeo. In addition, creating a public event that will benefit the businesses, groups and organizations in the surrounding community.
Our committee is 100% volunteer. We receive no compensation for the work that we do to make this event one of the premier events in central Wisconsin each year. In order to make this event successful, we rely entirely on your support to fund and maintain the rodeo. We are asking for your help to continue this award winning rodeo! In a 2011 survey conducted by the UWEX, it was estimated that between $115- $130,000 was spent at the rodeo over the three day period. A recent feasibility study conducted of the Merrill Festival Grounds shows that the Wisconsin River Pro Rodeo has an economic impact to the area of $230-250,000. It’s estimated that 7,000 people visit the festival grounds during the three day event.
Where do the profits from the rodeo go? Since its inception, the Lincoln County Rodeo Association, Inc. has given back to the community over $159,100 in donations through programs such as; Tough Enough to Wear Pink, the Never Forgotten Honor Flight, as well as numerous community, 4H, and civic organizations. The 2017 donations totaled over $10,950. The money we raise stays local. In 2016 we invested in a 150 x 250 arena with holding pens for the Merrill Festival Grounds that will be available for use by others. In 2017 we invested in more Water and Electrical expansions at the Festal Grounds.
